Puthuvypu is unique in that it is one of the lesser-explored beaches in Kerala and Ernakulam in particular. It has not been fully developed for the sake for tourism. That is what makes this beach special – the raw beauty of Nature at its best. You can see fishermen going about with their daily routines. You might come across kids playing cricket or football on the beach. It makes the experience all the more natural and interesting. There is a lighthouse nearby to the beach, popularly known as the Vypeen Lighthouse. It is one of the tallest lighthouses in Kerala. You can enter the lighthouse and have a panoramic view of the surroundings from 3 pm to 5 pm everyday.
